Freedom Youth Project volunteer and artist, Jenny Rudd, sponsored "Painting with a Purpose," as a fund raising event to benefit FYP. The evening, which was filled with laughter, friendship and fellowship, incorporated everyone creating their own painting in the likeness of an original created by Ms. Rudd. The painting consisted of bird cages, all hanging on tree limbs and each depicting the different lives children can experience by way of choices and knowledge. There was a cage depicting freedom, another depicting enslavement by trafficking, and another depicting the sharing of knowledge through FYP's "Liars and Posers" training. The legal system was represented as well as our own Faith and beliefs. While participants were painting, Saul Castellanos, CEO of FYP, spoke to the knowledge we can provide youth via training, so that they will never find themselves victims of trafficking. Even though the topic of the evening was serious, the message was of hope and empowerment. At the end of the evening, the most perfect word to describe the event was JOY. Ms. Rudd manages The Loft Coffee House in Bulverde, TX, affiliated with Riverside Community Church. She will be offering this event again in the upcoming month. |
